Ultimate Lifting Club (ULC) athlete and former Mr. Kathmandu champion James Magar has left for Thailand with the Nepal team to compete at the 58th Asian Bodybuilding & Physique Sports Championships 2026, also known as Mr. Asia 2026.
The Nepal team departed for Thailand today, September 22, with athletes set to represent the country across different categories at the Asian championship.
The competition will be held from September 22 to 28, 2026, at the Alexander Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand, bringing together bodybuilding and physique athletes from across Asia.
James will represent Nepal in the Men's Physique category.
James Magar Represents Nepal in Men's Physique
James has experience in both powerlifting and bodybuilding. He won U21 powerlifting titles in 2022 and 2023 before moving further into physique competition and winning the Mr. Kathmandu title in 2024.
Now, as part of the Nepal team competing in Thailand, James will have the opportunity to test himself against Men's Physique athletes from across Asia.

From ULC to the Asian Stage
James's participation at Mr. Asia comes during a strong month for athletes from Ultimate Lifting Club.
At Mr. Kathmandu 2026 on September 5, ULC athlete Aseem Singh Thapa secured 1st place in the Men's Physique Above 170 cm category, while Kunal Basnet finished 5th in the Men's Physique Below 170 cm category.
Their performances were a strong start to September for ULC. Now, the focus moves from Kathmandu to Bangkok as James takes on an international challenge.
James's journey from national competitions to representing Nepal at the Asian championships reflects the discipline, consistency and hard work required to compete at this level.
Nepal at the 58th Asian Bodybuilding & Physique Sports Championships 2026
The 58th Asian Bodybuilding & Physique Sports Championships 2026 is being held in Bangkok from September 22 to 28.
Athletes from Nepal will compete alongside representatives from countries across Asia in various bodybuilding and physique categories.
For James, the championship is not only an opportunity to compete internationally, but also a chance to represent Nepal, the Nepali fitness community and Ultimate Lifting Club on the Asian stage.
